Keep your device software and system trust store up to date

We maintain support over several versions of the OSs Bolt runs on, this is to ensure your properties are available to as many of your users as possible. From time to time, we revise our list of supported OS versions to reflect the declining usage of those platforms and the increased effort of maintaining our product standards on older technology. Here's more on why we drop support for OS versions, and how we ensure our products work consistently with new versions.

This article serves to detail the currently supported operating systems for each Bolt platform.

Note that these OS versions maybe supported across a broad range of devices. Apple tends to extend iOS support to devices many years old and Android runs on a huge number of devices from many different manufacturers. Given this diversity, performance will not be equal across all devices and the and and physical state of any single device can also have a notable impact on performance. Any versions that are no longer supported by Apple/Google and make up less than 2% of platform usage will be dropped.

For web browsers we support the 2 most recent major versions of the below-stated browsers, and the last 3 years of MacOS and Windows releases.

              iOS, iPadOS: 26, 18, 17

              Android: 16, 15, 14, 13, 12, 11, 10; Fire OS 7, 8

Desktop Web: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Microsoft Edge

M1 Macs: Bolt apps will run on M1 Macs but are not fully supported at this time. If you'd prefer your apps not be available, you can opt out when submitting an update.

              Amazon Fire devices

We only support Bolt apps on Amazon Fire devices if they have been downloaded from the Amazon Appstore. The Google Play Store is not officially supported on Fire devices, so apps installed via other means aren't supported. If you'd like to submit your app to the Amazon Appstore, please contact your Customer Success Manager to discuss further.

Keep your device software and system trust store up to date

A device may meet our supported operating-system requirements but still experience connection, content-loading, login, or download errors if its system root-certificate trust store is outdated or incomplete.

Install all available operating-system, security, and system updates before troubleshooting HTTPS or content-loading problems.

Devices no longer receiving updates to their system trust store are likely to experience wide-spread TLS errors (not limited to our apps) and may require replacement.
