Pugpig Bolt Supported Operating Systems
Table of Contents
We maintain support over several versions of the OSs Bolt runs on, this is to ensure your properties are available to as many of your users as possible. From time to time, we revise our list of supported OS versions to reflect the declining usage of those platforms and the increased effort of maintaining our product standards on older technology. Here's more on why we drop support for OS versions, and how we ensure our products work consistently with new versions.
iOS 17 and Android 14
We're currently in the process of updating Bolt to target iOS 17 and Android 14, which entails a full regression test of the platform. This will be completed well ahead of the 29th April deadline for iOS and the to-be-announced deadline for Android which is usually around July.
There will be no interruption in your ability to submit new versions, but you might receive warning emails from Apple ahead of this version being released, these are nothing to be concerned about and no action is required from you.
This article serves to detail the currently supported operating systems for each Bolt platform.
Note that these OS versions maybe supported across a broad range of devices. Apple tends to extend iOS support to devices many years old and Android runs on a huge number of devices from many different manufacturers. Given this diversity, performance will not be equal across all devices and the and and physical state of any single device can also have a notable impact on performance. Any versions that are no longer supported by Apple/Google and make up less than 2% of platform usage will be dropped.
For web browsers we support the 2 most recent major versions of the below-stated browsers, and the last 3 years of MacOS and Windows releases.
iOS: 17, 16, 15.
Android: 14, 13, 12, 11, 10, 9 (Pie), 8 (Oreo); Fire OS 7, 8
Desktop Web: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Microsoft Edge
M1 Macs: Bolt apps will run on M1 Macs but are not fully supported at this time. If you'd prefer your apps not be available, you can opt out when submitting an update.
