The content URL is a parameter passed by Google's Mobile Ads SDK to Google Ads.

Content mapping helps deliver contextually relevant ads to your users and helps ensure ads are placed near content that’s suitable for your advertisers. This enables more advertisers to bid safely on your inventory, which may help to maximize your revenue.

              Article Page

When a native bottom banner advert appears on an article page we pass one of the following:

              1. Canonical URL (default)
              2. Bundle ID (legacy, fall back if canonical is not set)

It is recommended to use the canonical site URL if it exists. Google's Ad Manager Crawler bot must be allowed to crawl the domain.

For legacy reasons, the app can also send the bundle ID. Sending such a value is explicitly banned by Google Ads.

              Timeline

When a native bottom banner advert appears on a timeline we pass multiple content URLs.  Pugpig Bolt will automatically pass the content URL of the first four articles on the timeline. It will use the same setting as on the article page to determine which URL to pass for each individual article.

This allows Google to better understand the content and context that the advert is appearing with, helping monetization.
