How to find and email app logs
Table of Contents
When trying to diagnose a bug, one of the best ways our support team can get to the bottom of the issue is by looking at the log file that the app generates on a device. If we've asked you to send us logs, please follow the instructions below.
Pugpig Bolt (Bolt v3.17+)
- Open the Bolt app you want to send the logs for
- Navigate to the settings tab
- Tap on the "Report a bug" settings item (reach out to your Customer Success Manager if it needs to be added).
- If the default mail app is installed, a draft email will automatically be opened with your set defaults. If not, select your email client of choice to automatically open a new email in your email client. Both will have app logs automatically attached, along with a store receipt if applicable.
- Add any comments you want about the bug you are experiencing into the body of the email.
- Tap send (ensuring the correct email is in the address field) and wait for us to get back to you.
If you do not have the ‘report a bug’ settings item, please repeat the steps outlined for Bolt v3.16 and below, and tap and hold for step 4.
Pugpig Bolt (up to Bolt v3.16)
- Open the Bolt app you want to send the logs for
- Navigate to the settings tab
- Scroll to the bottom of the page to find the app version and which version of Pugpig Bolt the app is powered by
- This step is different for iOS and Android devices:
- iOS: Swipe right with two fingers on the version number to bring up the log screen.
- Android: Tap and hold the version number for 3 seconds to bring up the log screen.
- Click the share icon
- Select your email client of choice to automatically open a new email in your email client with the log.txt file already attached.
- Add any comments you want about the bug you are experiencing into the body of the email
- Tap send and wait for us to get back to you
Pugpig Publish
- Open the Publish app you want to send the logs for
- Navigate to the settings page (sometime you will need to go to a subpage of Settings - usually this is General)
- Scroll to the bottom of the page to find the app version and which version of Pugpig Publish the app is powered by
- Long hold on the version number until a dialog pops up
- Click share logs or email logs - this should open a new email in your email client with the log.txt file already attached.
- Add any comments you want about the bug you are experiencing into the body of the email
- Tap send and wait for us to get back to you
