Toast messages
Table of Contents
Toasts are a new way to provide users with brief, unobtrusive confirmation of their actions or to surface a simple next step. They appear temporarily at the bottom of the screen, giving users clear feedback without interrupting their flow.
This feature is designed to support both new and experienced users by making interactions feel responsive and reliable. Whether it’s saving an article, adding something to a queue, or completing another action, toasts give users confidence that the app has responded as expected.
By surfacing short, focused messages only when needed, we aim to improve usability, reduce uncertainty, and make key user journeys smoother.
What are Toasts?
Toasts are lightweight, in-app messages that:
- Confirm user actions (for example, “Added to Saved”)
- Offer reassurance without blocking the user’s journey
- May include an optional call-to-action (CTA), such as “Open”
Toasts appear for a short duration and then dismiss automatically but users can also dismiss them manually by swiping. They are also dark mode compatible by default.
Where can they appear?
Currently toasts are supported on:
- Saving and unsaving content - both from the timeline and within an article
- Queuing audio - whether playing next or adding to the end of a queue
If you'd like any others please let us know, we will be monitoring areas of low engagement in Bolt apps to identify where others might be beneficial.

Who can use it?
Toasts are available to all customers using Bolt iOS 4.11.0 (soon to come to Android). They can be applied to any user action that benefits from lightweight feedback, and are particularly effective for:
- Confirming user actions and reducing potential uncertainty in a user's experience
- Driving engagement with optional next steps
What is needed to get it live?
Toasts will be enabled by default for all customers on 4.11.0 and beyond. Toasts allow for full control over the theme and copy and they can be disabled if desired.
